Professional Liability Insurance for Paralegals is effected with certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s, London, England through Complete Equity Markets.

Coverage is provided for Damages resulting from negligent acts, Errors or Omissions in the conduct of professional services in mediating Domestic Relations Disputes. Cost of defense even where the insured is found at fault. Prior acts coverage claims arising from acts, errors or omissions committed or alleged to have been committed prior to the inception date of the insurance and which are unknown at the time of the insurance application.

Limit Available: $1,000,000 per claim / $2,000,000 annual aggregate
Defence costs and other payments are included in the policy limit
Deductible $1,000
Staff at no additional cost ( includes secretaries, clerks, etc.)

In Ontario, Paralegals who provide legal services to the public must carry professional liability insurance in accordance with Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC) requirements. Services include:

Our coverage meets the requirements of Law Society of Upper Canada and includes the required 60 days notice of cancellation to LSUC and the requirements for all other Law Societies in other provinces across Canada.

*  LSUC is offering Collection Agents and Members of some of the groups previously exempt from paralegal licensing an opportunity to apply for a paralegal license. Our insurance policy meets the requirements for these people at the same low premium. As other groups are added under the Integration Licensing Process Program, you can be assured we will be here to offer our services.

If you work for a Law firm and give legal advice, sign letters or have responsibility for some of your own matters, you will not have coverage under the law firms LawPro policy and LawPro will not provide you with defence coverage.
